Patta-da-kal - Coronation Rock

Wasawo Waasawam Yatha -  As Waasawa (anointed) by Wasus, documents Walmiki, of Rama's coronation.

Carried away by the imagery of eight Wasus anointing Indra, Walmiki uses an inappropriate simile.

Pomp and grandeur of the earthly  coronation, must have blurred him to draw a parallel with heavenly crowning.

And a shadow falls over his hero character, Rama.

How can indulgent, heavenly Indra have any parity with austere, mortal Rama?

Ahalya was cursed by Indra's touch; And Rama's touch broke her curse.

The literary shadow lifts, only in Bhagawad Purana -  when Krshna unfurls Gowardhan hill as umbrella, to shelter his folk. And  humbled Indra falls at Krsna's feet; coronates him as Gowinda, shelterer of senses.
